LEED

USGBC has announced the intention to revise and align the current LEED rating systems. A significant change to the rating systems is the number of credits allocated, i.e. 100 basic credits, plus 10 ‘innovation’ and ‘regional’ credits. This makes a significant change to the outcome of an assessment, as energy performance is given greater weight in comparison with indoor environmental performance. The figure below illustrates the proposed change for LEED-CI:

BEAM

A new version of BEAM, tentatively named BEAM ‘Interiors’ is under development. A PILOT version has been drafted and is under trial use on a project. The intention is to finalise the pilot version following the trial and launch in January 2009.

The BEAM Society is intending to revise and update BEAM 4/04 ‘New Buildings’ and 5/04 ‘Existing Building’ for launch in 2009.
